🚓 Neighbourhood Policing in Action – Taxi Safety Checks & Traffic Enforcement 🚕

Tonight, our Local Neighbourhood Policing Team has been out across York carrying out safety checks on taxis to ensure they’re fully compliant with regulations.

Taxis often play a key role in helping vulnerable individuals get home safely whether it’s someone with additional needs, a lone traveller, or a person enjoying a night out. That’s why we’re making sure these vehicles are safe, licensed, and roadworthy.

🛑 During the operation, a number of drivers were also stopped after officers observed them committing moving traffic offences while checks were underway.

✅ What we checked: 

• Taxi licensing and documentation 

• Vehicle condition and safety standards 

• Driver credentials and conduct

These checks help us protect passengers.
